The Indian community in Dunedin gathered together on Saturday 19th at Balmacewen School hall to celebrate our 59th independence day. The actual date was 15th August, last tuesday. The event was from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. It was nice to see everybody in Indian traditional dress. We sang patriotic songs and traditional Indian performances from children. We are trying to evoke the memories of our great freedom fighters within the community. Everyone brought a plate each. We had different types of snacks at the end.
